Firefly Valley
Firefly Valley is situated in the centermost region of Etharia, safe within the mountainous walls of the south end of the Turnmont Mountain range that borders much of the Grento Ice Plains. Swindmore Forest, the largest forest within valley territory, the dense mixture of deciduous and coniferous flora and multiple waterfalls proving to be the valley's second line of defense. Known as the "gateway to the West", Firefly Valley is the natural tollbooth that those along the east coast must travel through to enter the west, its beautiful rivers and overlooks a welcoming sight for those making the trek. The valley, as the centermost region is quite large, has an extensive amount of rolling field lands and lush forests within valley territory allowing for a broad spectrum of biodiversity.
The valley takes great pride in the health and preservation of its large wildlife populations, as well as the various flora that litter every crevice of the region. Budding scientists and environmentalists alike travel from miles abroad to catch even a glimpse of the valley's biodiverse ecosystem, many planting their roots in the surrounding towns and villages to continue their fieldwork. Among the wildlife protected within this territory is the valley's namesake: the fireflies. As the pride and joy of the valley's inhabitants. much goes into the protection and preservation of the thousands of firefly species that call the region their home, which explains the many strict and regulatory laws set in place for their protection.
The valley contains multiple small townships and villages, mainly centered on farming and trade, though, much is owed to Firefly Valley when it comes to commerce within Etharia. Though most villages and towns within the valley are smaller than those of the neighboring regions, the town of Aurelia proves to be the most influential on the continent, providing a center for bartering and trade, as well as for cultural exploration.
